第61回国連女性の地位委員会（CSW61）でイベントを開催します！
この度、3月に開催される第61回国連女性の地位委員会（UN Committee on the Status of Women / 通称CSW）に、日本YWCAより5名が参加します（そのうち4名が30歳以下の若い女性です）。
CSWは国連発足間もない1946年に設立され、国連経済社会理事会の諮問機関として、各国政府代表者が世界中で女性が置かれている状況を問い、必要な取り組みを協議・決議する場となっています。国連本部での会議に平行して、世界中のNGOが集まる場でもあり、2016年3月の第60回CSWには1,000を超えるNGOから8,000人以上が参加しました。日本YWCAは、若い女性のリーダーシップとエンパワメントを国連の場で発信し、広げることを目標とする世界YWCA代表団の一員として、この会議に参加してきました。

Title: Young Women’s Leadership for Peace- Learning from “Pilgrimage to Hiroshima”

This event aims to discuss the role of young women’s leadership in realizing peace and justice (SDGs Goal 16), through sharing the experience and learnings from the “Pilgrimage to Hiroshima”, a peace-education program regarding the Atomic Bomb dropped in the city in 1945. The event provides virtual experience of the “Pilgrimage to Hiroshima”, including visit to memorial sites through visual materials, introduction of testimonies of the survivors, sharing of experiences from young women who organized the program as leaders, and the introduction of the program as a model of leadership-building for young women. The event also includes discussion on the roles to be played by young women for the realization of SDGs Goal 16.
