YWCA of Japan Endorsed Letters of Protest on Japan-India Nuclear Agreement

It is reported that Prime Minister Abe of Japan and Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India are to hold talks regarding a potential agreement on nuclear export/import,
during Prime Minister Singh’s stay in Japan since May 27.

The YWCA of Japan is extremely concerened and outraged
by the Japanese Government’s attempts to export nuclear power plants, while being unable to stop the leaking and dangerous state of the damaged Fukushima plant even now.
The people of Japan are experiencing serious damages to all aspects of life as a result of the 2011 accident, and we strongly oppose to actions which might bring the same danger to the people of India.

We have endorsed a joint letter from 330 NGOs to Prime Minister
Abe and Prime Minister Singh, asking to withdraw from discussing such an agreement.
